I have written this article to explain the sources from Decluttering and Dis-organisation. It is not any way judgemental nor meant to be hurtful. I want people to understand themselves and others. I want more people to be aware and acceptance that we all have things happen to us and we all need to take care of ourselves and others. There is
a much deeper understanding of Decluttering and Organising than one thinks.
Emotionally
When people have clutter and feel disorganised. There are certain aspects that come into play which could relate to these feelings. The root causes are sometimes unknown and become surprising to anyone who do find them out. One such cause could be a sense of attachment to items. Items bring comfort or memories. Which brings me to bereavement. A lot of reasons people don’t like to get rid of items too are because they either reminded of someone they lost or a new habit has kicked in from the circumstance, which is the dependency on items.
Another factor cause could be impulsive behaviour. This type of behaviour is quite common and can happen to any of us. Me included. I go through times where I am impulsive, whether it is going somewhere or buying something. It feels good and it creates a sort of rush. That is not always a feel-good later though…
Later we can feel frustrated or aggravated from having too much stuff. Other emotions follow can be sadness or loneliness. These are situations when clutter creates humiliation, stops us from having people around or going anywhere. Stops us from doing things we need to do and even want to do like a simple task of reading one’s favourite book.
Mentally
Mental Health is being supported much more now than ever before. There are so many ways to help ourselves before even getting support from others, although there is much support out there! There is support for almost any bad situation.
You won’t believe the mental benefits from clearing your space. If you have less clutter, you have calm. If you have everything in place, you have less stress. If you can find things and they function, you have less aggravation. If you spend time with items or people that matter rather than overwhelmed by too much of too many, you will feel the joy.
Tidy space is a tidy mind.
Physically
Clutter and dis-organisation can actually be the cause or if not the cause, it can be so unhelpful to those who suffer physical challenges. If stuff is in the way or piled up and blocking access, think of what hazards this can cause. The clutter everywhere not only negatively affects people but can cause great injuries and harm!
If you do start to declutter or organise, you will find that it is like cleaning and exercise. With practice you will grow strength and energy. And the best part, is burning those calories!
If things have their place, you are able to get on with your day-to-day tasks much more efficiently! Not only will functions help you to have routine and finish the tasks, but these systems and methods can have serious impact on economic circumstances or time! Lastly, aesthetics are always a good thing in a space!
